Deceased dolphin affected by Mississippi River water

Corps releases eis on mid-barataria diversion

The Corps has released the final Environmental Impact Statement on Louisiana's proposed large scale Mid-Barataria Mississippi River Diversion project.

The report predicts minimal land built and "major, adverse, permanent" impacts to dolphins, shrimp and oysters!

It's vital you make your voice heard!!

This project will cause irreparable economic harm to multiple Gulf Coast states!

The Final Environmental Impact Statement has confirmed many of the objections to this project that Gulf Coast Resource Coalition and our partners have fought to make public for years!

This planned large scale Mississippi River diversion project, if approved for permitting, will operate nonstop and deliver massive amounts of polluted Mississippi River water directly into one of the most productive estuaries in the world.  The EIS clearly states the project will build only minimal land, actually CAUSE land loss further away from the structure, and cause "major, adverse, permanent" impacts to dolphins, shrimp and oysters!

THIS PROJECT WILL END MAJOR SEAFOOD RESOURCES WHICH FUEL TOURISM, RESTAURANT, PROCESSING & DISTRIBUTION, AND OTHER JOBS ACROSS THE GULF COAST!

Mid-Barataria and Mid-Breton Mississippi River Diversions in Louisiana

Read the science for yourself!

The executive summary of the report is available here: https://www.mvn.usace.army.mil/Portals/56/docs/regulatory/permits/EIS/04_MBSD_FEIS_Executive_Summary.pdf

The full Environmental Impact Statement is also available and provides the technical scientific information that outlines the conclusions in the Executive Summary. This project, along with its twin project - the Mid-Breton Sediment Diversion - WILL destroy the two most productive estuaries in the US, along with one of the largest dolphin stocks in North America and over 25% of the United States' domestic seafood production.
